An early19th century French salting pot.
Crafted from earthenware with a rustic bulbous shape sitting on a tilt. Decorated with repetitive thumb prints along the edge of the pot lip and around the middle.
This primitive handcrafted ‘ponne’ is akin to Japanese ‘wabi-sabi’ pottery, a striking sculptural addition for interior or garden.
Base diameter 26cm.
