An antique Indian dowry chest, beautifully patinated and iron-bound.
Thought to be from Gujarat circa early 19th century, it is constructed from teak wood and most likely custom made for a wealthy family to stash away dowry, family treasures, hence the hefty solid brass security lock.
The interior consists of one large, simple storage space – a perfect blanket box, toy box or as a centre piece coffee table.
