A pair of antique Pidha chairs.

Traditional low stools in a rich, dark teak with beautifully carved back panel, on typical turned, decorative wood legs.

These traditional tribal Pidhas originate from Rajasthan.

The chairs have obvious signs of age with expected wear and tear, being traditionally used as a low seat in the Rajasthan desert or on the backs of camels, due to their comfort, the seats are made with cotton ropes using weaving techniques similar to those in charpoys.

The smaller of the two has a folding backrest, the larger seat has been re-strung at some point.

Beautiful accent pieces.
