Beautiful Portuguese cork beehives, circa 1900.

These hives are made from the versatile, light bark from a cork tree to keep bees cool. The bark is stripped then stitched or nailed together with some fantastic decorative iron strap work and wooden dowels to form its cylindrical shape.

Stunning sculptural and raw decorative objects that can stand alone as works of art or be used as planters, umbrella stands, storage vessels, side pieces both indoors and outdoors.

Sizes and shapes vary from piece to piece. Only two left.

Measurements: H 45 to 57 x W 28 to 42cm
