A rare mid 1800’s solid pine and fruitwood topped dough trough chest with very simple block legs. Originally this innovative table was used by Victorian bakers to knead and prove bread dough, the top bows slightly in the middle from the constant kneading.
It has been left in its original condition, and features the original lift-off lid and tapered body.
This large table top dough box retains its untouched original character and an awesome wood patina with beautifully rich colour – a pretty rare find in this excellent condition. A perfect masterpiece for a country kitchen style, or as a console, boot room or hallway storage.
